Available for Special Order onlyShips as soon as product arrives! Estimated Time: 1 - 2 Weeks The Alco RSD-15's were built between 1956 and 1960 in Schenectady, New York.  The RSD-15 was powered by an Alco 251 16-cylinder V-type engine.   Rated at 2,400 horsepower, these versatile locomotives were suited for mainline freight and passenger service.  The locomotive rode on 3-axle trucks with all axles powered by GE model 752 traction motors.  The trucks have asymmetrical axle spacing because of the position of the traction motors.  The six-motor design allowed for higher tractive effort at lower speeds than a similar four-motor design.  The RSD-15's could be ordered with either a high or low short hood, and the low hood versions quickly earned the nickname "alligators" due to their unusually long noses.  In 2022, we are offering models of the RSD-15's in N scale with DCC & Sound for the first time.  We are offering models of RSD-15's from 9 railroads in 10 distinct paint schemes.   All road numbers and paint schemes are prototypically accurate.  We are also building three models that were very similar in real life - two C&O RSD-7's and a CP RSD-17.   The models will be BLI RSD-15 models with the C&O and CP paint schemes applied.   There wasn't a lot of detail variation among the RSD-15's, and we are making three distinct models - a standard low-hood model, a standard high-hood model, and a PRR-type high hood model with different locations for the bell and horns.  Independently controllable lights in each RSD-15 model: Headlight Rear Light Cab Light Front & Rear Numberboards  Industry-leading Model Features:    Paragon4 Sound & Control System featuring ROLLING THUNDER Integral Dual-Mode Decoder with Back EMF for Superb Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC Precision Drive Mechanism Engineered for Heavy Towing and Smooth Slow Speed Operation All Wheel Electrical Pick-up ABS Body with Die Cast Chassis for Maximum Tractive Effort Premium Caliber Painting Prototypically Accurate Paint Schemes and Road Numbers Many Separately Applied Details such as Handrails, Grab Irons, Horns, Bell, and Antenna Prototypical Light Operation Prototypically Accurate Sounds for the Alco RSD-15 Diesel Locomotive Metal Kadee-compatible Couplers (2) Will Operate on Code 55, Code 70, and Code 80 Rail Minimum Operating Radius:  9 inches     Broadway Limited Imports is proud to introduce Paragon4: The new benchmark for premium HO sound-equipped locomotives. Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 7230 | UP Big Boy #4007, 1941, As-Delivered Aftercooler, 25-C-100 Coal Tender, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC, Smoke | N Scale

Available for Special Order onlyShips as soon as product arrives! Estimated Time: 1 - 2 Weeks Often called the largest steam loco ever made, and certainly a contender for the Worlds Most Famous Locomotive, the Big Boy was forged under some of the most strenuous demands ever placed on a locomotive. The UP Railroad needed a locomotive that could be used to pull a 3,600-ton train over Sherman Hill and the 1.14% grade from Ogden to Wasatch, Utah without the need for helpers. When the design specifications were complete, it was decided on the use of a simple articulated, high speed, 132 ft. long locomotive sporting sixteen 68 diameter drive wheels. What they created was the longest and among the heaviest, most powerful steam locomotive legends in the world. And had not the worker at ALCO chalked Big Boy on the side of the smoke box of one of the 4-8-8-4s under construction, a name that immediately caught on, it is rumored that the name of the type would have been Wasatch, for the mountains they were built to conquer. Quote from Worlds Greatest Steam Locomotives by Eugene L. Huddleston: There were 25 locomotives fabricated in two different groups. Class 1 were locomotives #4000-4019 and Class 2 was numbered 4020-4024. The first Big Boy #4000 was delivered to Omaha, NE on September 5, 1941.  The Union Pacific Railroad's commitment to the Big Boy required them to replace the lighter rail and straighten out many miles of track for clearance as well as to resize elements of their service areas (such as turntable lengths, etc.) for the entire line these locos would run on. The Big Boys demonstrated fantastic strength and speed as they faced these challenges throughout their storied careers. With the total mileage on the Big Boy fleet being approximately 1,000,000 miles for each locomotive, one must say that they earned their reputation. Several examples remain in museums around the country but silently they sit as a visual echo to the thunder that once made them revered throughout the landscape that the Big Boys dominated. In our first production of this model in N scale, BLI is modeling the Union Pacific Big Boy with these notable features: Accurately modeled front end with appropriate aftercooler system for each class Accurately modeled 25-C-100 and 25-C-400 tender, appropriate for each class Accurately modeled oil tender for #4014 which operates in excursion service today Two models painted in attractive two-tone gray paint schemes that the Big Boys never received in real life  Industry-leading Model Features:    Paragon4 Sound & Control System featuring ROLLING THUNDER Integral Dual-Mode Decoder with Back EMF for Superb Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC Precision Drive Mechanism Engineered for Heavy Towing and Smooth Slow Speed Operation Operating Smoke Unit with On/Off Switch Six Drivers and All Tender Wheels Pick-up Electricity from Track Die Cast Locomotive Body with Die Cast Chassis for Heavier Weight and Maximum Tractive Effort Rubber Tires on Two Drivers for Additional Tractive Effort Premium Caliber Painting Prototypically Accurate Paint Schemes and Road Numbers Many Separately Applied Details such as Handrails, Grab Irons, Piping, Tender Ladders, Whistle, and Bell Prototypical Headlight and Rear Light Operation Separately Controllable Cab Light and Lighted Numberboards Prototypically Accurate Sounds for the Union Pacific Big Boy Operating Microtrains-compatible Couplers Will Operate on Code 55, Code 70, and Code 80 Rail Minimum Operating Radius:  9.75 inches     Broadway Limited Imports is proud to introduce Paragon4: The new benchmark for premium HO sound-equipped locomotives. Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 7033 | EMD SD70ACe, UP #1988, Missouri-Kansas-Texas Heritage livery, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | N Scale

The SD70ACe is the successor to the older SD70MAC. Built from 2004 to 2014 in the United States, the SD70ACe was originally designed to comply with EPA Tier 2 locomotive emissions regulations. Beginning in 2012, newly built SD70ACes were EPA Tier 3 compliant. SD70ACes are equipped with EMD's 16-710-G3C-T2 prime mover, rated at 4,300 horsepower (3,200 kW). Later Tier 3 models are rated at 4,500 horsepower (3,400 kW). They are rated at 157,000 lbf (700 kN) continuous tractive effort (191,000 lbf (850 kN) starting). Braking effort is rated at 106,000 lbf (470 kN).  Although mechanically similar to earlier SD70 units, the SD70ACe rides on a new underframe and uses mostly new sheet metal above the frame. Electrical cables and air lines have been routed beneath the walkways on opposite sides, allowing easier access for maintenance. Continuing the designs of the SD80 and SD90 series, the radiator on the locomotive is nearly as wide as the cab, the center hood section is a step down below the roofline, and the dynamic brakes have been moved to the rear of the hood. The SD70ACe uses the cab design of late-model SD90MAC-H units, which uses rectangular window glass and is externally different from the two cab variations used on earlier SD70M and SD70MAC units. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab on subsequent SD70ACes after non-isolated cab units were restricted from leading on BNSF Railway due to excessive cab vibration. Our 2022 production is our third run of SD70ACe's in N scale, and our first with our Paragon4 DC/DCC sound & control system.  In this run we are offering models in 18 different paint schemes.   Each one has detail variations accurate for each paint scheme.   The variations include low & high headlight, isolated and non-isolated cab, long and short sunshades, two brake wheel variations, three cab roof variations, and two blower vent layouts.    Industry-leading Model Features:    Paragon4 Sound & Control System featuring ROLLING THUNDER Integral Dual-Mode Decoder with Back EMF for Superb Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC Precision Drive Mechanism Engineered for Heavy Towing and Smooth Slow Speed Operation All Wheel Electrical Pick-up (except for rubber traction tire) ABS Plastic Body with Die Cast Chassis for Maximum Tractive Effort Premium Caliber Painting Prototypically Accurate Paint Schemes and Road Numbers Many Separately Applied Details such as Handrails, Grab Irons, Horn, Bell, and Cut Levers Prototypical Light Operation with Separately Controllable Headlight, Rear Light, Cab Light, and Front Ditch Lights Prototypically Accurate Sounds for an EMD SD70ACe Locomotive Microtrains-compatible Couplers (2) Will Operate on Code 55, Code 70, and Code 80 Rail Minimum Operating Radius:  9.75 inches     Broadway Limited Imports is proud to introduce Paragon4: The new benchmark for premium HO sound-equipped locomotives. SurroundTraxx is a major breakthrough in sound systems for model trains! For the first time, a sound system has been designed with multiple trains in mind. SurroundTraxx gives you the realism of high-fidelity sound moving with the train as it travels about the layout, without installing speakers onboard the engine. SurroundTraxx works with a multiplicity of audio speakers that are strategically placed in hidden locations around the layout. Using the latest digital signal processing (DSP) technology and advanced block detection techniques, SurroundTraxx faithfully reproduces the sounds made by each train on the layout and directs the sound to the speaker closest to the train's location. As a train moves along its route, SurroundTraxx makes continuous adjustments to the sound level of each speaker so that the sound appears to follow the train around the layout. SurroundTraxx does not simply switch the sound from speaker to speaker. It uses an intelligent cross-fade algorithm that factors in train speed, direction, and distance between speakers. The sound makes a smooth transition as your train travels from one sound zone to the next without abrupt pops or thumps. DCC surround-sound system for your layout Suitable for all scales -- N through G! Sounds interact and “move” with your trains; no onboard speakers necessary Use with any 8-ohm speaker (or subwoofer for lower frequencies) Six sound channels support six different “sound zones” on your layout Simultaneous sound operations for up to six trains to be dispatched at once Memory storage for up to 99 locomotive profiles An extensive sound library to closely match all popular steam and diesel prototypes Ambient effects such as echo and reverb Download the data sheet (PDF) SurroundTraxx stores a roster of locomotive sound settings in a database called the Roundhouse. This is an extensive library that you can set up and adjust to match your model's prototype or to sound like your favorite horn or whistle, prime mover, or exhaust chuff. Each engine can have a unique sound profile! Once you have entered your locomotive roster into the Roundhouse, you can use the internal “dispatcher,” which allows up to six trains to be in operation at one time. SurroundTraxx can be set up to pick the first six locomotives detected, or you can assign these slots to the locomotives of your choice (perfect to make sure your favorite engine never goes silent!). These locomotive “slots” used by the dispatcher are called Auto Dispatch (AD) slots. After the trains have been dispatched, the block detector will identify the trains' locations, the speed they are traveling, and the point where they will cross into new blocks. SurroundTraxx uses this information to move the appropriate sounds to the corresponding sound channel (six are available) on the SurroundTraxx unit. SurroundTraxx uses an intelligent cross-fade algorithm that factors in train speed, direction, and distance between speakers. This reproduces the sound in such a way that it appears as though it is being emitted directly from the train rather than the speakers on the layout. The multiple trains running on the layout can all be in the same area or spread throughout the layout. SurroundTraxx will still dispatch and reproduce their respective sounds in full audio richness. It truly is a complete layout sound system with multiple trains and operating sessions in mind! Note: If using single-channel mode (default), the sound will feed through all six channels at once and does not follow the train. In order to set up the other modes of operation, you must use Digitrax® transponding block detection on your layout.  Included with SurroundTraxx: SurroundTraxx system 5V power supply Network cable Speaker harness for six sound channel outputs (6' sections of each) Quick Start Guide Owner’s Manual CD Customer registration card Additional items needed for operation: Up to six 8-ohm speakers Optional subwoofer The appropriate DCC mobile decoders equipped with transponding or a TL-1 transponder Digitrax DCC Command Station, cabs and power boosters Additional speaker wire if using a distance greater than 6’ Digitrax BDL-168 (or older BDL-162) Block Detectors Digitrax RX-4s (eight total)
