Rapido Trains Inc Rapido 28564 | EMD E8A - Southern - Tuxedo Scheme #2923 (DC/DCC/Sound) | HO Scale
EMD’s E-8 (and successor, E-9) were the quintessential North American passenger locomotive of the 1950s through the 1970s. 450 E8A and 46 E8B units were produced, with an additional 100 E9A and 44 E9B locos following. The first E8s were delivered in 1949, with the last E9 being produced in 1964. These units pulled passenger trains from coast to coast, and later became the backbone of Amtrak’s fleet in its early days. Many more were later used in commuter service before being retired. Today several units live on in museums and tourist railroads throughout North America. What makes Rapido’s E8 and E9 models different than every E8 or E9 that has come before? Simple – we’re doing it right. Every E8 model out there is a “best guess” as to the nose, roof and windshield contours of the real thing. At Rapido’s we don’t believe in making guesses. That’s why we commissioned a 3D laser scan of Union Pacific E8 #942 at the Southern California Railway Museum. A 3D scan ensures that we get those impossible-to-guess contours bang-on accurate. Our engineers trace the scan and shrink it down to HO scale. Rapido’s E8 model features: 3D laser-scanned body shell Accurate nose and roof contours Seven different noses Three different back ends Two different sides – with and without lifting lug covers Three different steam generator options 36” fan, 48” fan or non-dynamic brake options Single- or dual-headlight configurations Freight or passenger pilots Three styles of side grills Original porthole sides or rebuilt with blanked sides (including unique variations) Skirted or non-skirted fuel tanks Original square and sloped or Hyatt roller bearing journal boxes Heavy die-cast chassis Smooth running drive system with all wheels powered Complete lighting effects – headlights, class lights, backup lights, ground lights, cab lights and more Numerous road-specific detail parts in both plastic and etched metal Below is a list of just SOME of the road-specific detail parts that we are producing: Four different sand filler hatch styles PRR Train Phone antenna Southern rooftop air tanks Southern large-capacity water tanks UP snow shields Cab-side walkways (2 styles) Pilot MU hoses ATS shoes PRR Nose lifting lugs Three different radio antenna Six different headlight/warning light inserts Various bug screens, mirrors, and wind deflectors Numerous grab iron configurations Several horn styles (in brass) And probably more that we’ve forgotten! Each E8A & E8B locomotive will have road specific details applied. Details are listed with each product. You can see a visual representation of the details by clicking the button below. Kato Kato 37-6119 | GE P42 "Genesis" Amtrak "Operation Lifesaver" #203 | HO Scale
Available for Special Order only Ships as soon as product becomes available! Estimated Time: 1 - 2 weeks The General Electic P42 locomotive is also known as the "Genesis" locomotive. The P42 is a modern 4200 horsepower passenger locomotive used across the United States and Canada. Amtrak's P42 has replaced the EMD F40PH in revenue service and today they are used throughout the United States. Since their introduction, they have had a number of physical revisions to improve the ease of maintenance and parts replacements, including a bolt-on fiberglass nose panel (replacing the original's solid metal which was difficult to repair or replace) and a new headlight bezel that is more rounded than the previous square versions. Perfectly suited to pull Kato's new production of Phase IVb Superliners. Directional headlights and tail lights on both the front and rear of the locomotive, allowing it to operate as both a standard pulling locomotive with double heading capability or a push-pull engine, whether oriented facing forward or back. Illuminated pre-printed numberboards Capable of navigating minimum 370mm (14 3/5") radius curves (R1 radius in Europe), allowing the P42 to go where previous Kato locomotives have never been able to go before - dining room tables, coffee tables, spaces previously reserved exclusively for N scale! Brand new coreless truck-motor drive paired with a super-heavy solid metal body mechanism; doubling the number of motors while increasing the traction potential and weight for new standard of running smoothness and pulling power.

Available for Special Order only Ships as soon as product becomes available! Estimated Time: 1 - 2 Weeks Free USA Shipping The ATSF 3460 class consisted of six "Super Hudson" 4-6-4 steam locomotives built by Baldwin in 1937. One of those, #3460, was the Santa Fe's only streamlined locomotive. It was painted in a unique light blue and silver paint scheme and gained the name "Blue Goose". The Blue Goose was delivered to Shopton, Iowa in January 1938, and it pulled many of the Santa Fe's famed passenger trains until it was retired and scrapped in 1956. In our first production run of the Blue Goose, we are offering two models of the early locomotive as it appeared in 1938 and four models of the locomotive as it appeared between 1939 and retirement. The only difference between the two 1938 models is the presence of the road number "3460" on the side of the tender. Each of our four post-1938 model has a unique paint scheme, prototypically accurate for a specific time frame. The most visible detail differences between the early and late Blue Goose versions are the removal of the full skirts and the addition of the scissor smokestack and associated equipment. All of the models have hand-crafted brass boilers, cabs, and tender bodies, and die cast locomotive and tender chassis. Each model comes with our Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC sound system with synchronized puffing smoke and integral GoPack capacitors. Special Order - Only available through backorder.Shipping time varies, please contact us for estimated shipping time. Free USA Shipping In 2022, BLI is bringing out our second production of USRA Light and Heavy 4-6-2 steam locomotives, commonly called Light Pacifics and Heavy Pacifics! There were 20 original Heavy Pacifics built in 1919 for the USRA program, and all 20 went to Erie Railroad. From 1923, numerous copies were built, and many railroads operated similar locomotives. There were 81 original Light Pacifics built in 1919, and these were delivered to ACL, B&O, GTW, M&O (GM&O), and L&N. Subsequently, each of these railroads built copies, and several other railroads operated locomotives with similar dimensions and equipment. The Light Pacifics were limited to 54,000 lbs load per axle, versus 60,000 for the Heavy Pacifics, and this allowed the Light Pacifics to run on most main lines. Our Heavy and Light models follow the original USRA designs closely. Railroad specific variations are not modeled on these locomotives. Many Pacifics used the same 10,000 gallon tender as the USRA Mikados, and our models uses this 10,000 gallon tender. In our 2022 production run, we are building mostly Heavy and Light 4-6-2's that were quite similar to the USRA prototypes, but were not part of the USRA program. We have selected well-known locomotives with attractive paint schemes. Additionally, we will offer one unlettered Heavy Pacific and one unlettered Light Pacific. Both are painted black, with graphite firebox and smokebox, and are ready to be decorated and run on any railroad you like. Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 2501 | Baldwin Centipede A-A Set, PRR #5831/#5819 Set, 5-Stripe Passenger Scheme, both units w/ Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | HO Scale
The Baldwin 12-8-1500/2 were BLW's first serious attempt at a production road diesel locomotive. Baldwin built the famous "Centipedes" between 1945-48. The carbody rode on two enormous articulated half-frames that were linked at the middled with a hinged joint. One unpowered four-wheel truck at each end guided the locomotive through curves and helped provide stability. The Centipedes were huge - 91.5' feet long for single units as operated on SAL and NdM. Semi-permanently coupled pairs, as operated on the PRR, were 183' long! Each unit contained two 1500 horsepower diesel motors, so a pair contained four motors and totaled 6000 horsepower. Centipedes were heavy, totaling 1,200,000 pounds (1.2 million) for a pair, with more than 800,000 of those pounds carried by the 16 drivers. In 1945, the prototype A1-A2 set toured American railroads and three railroads placed orders - PRR, SAL, and NdeM. Union Pacific originally ordered two units, but never took delivery. Unfortunately, the Centipedes did not last long in service. PRR and SAL retired theirs by the early 1960's and NdeM followed in the late 60's. The Centipedes were enormous, and maybe the most unique diesel locomotive design of the era, but they could not compete with the more capable EMD locomotives. In our 2022 production of Centipedes, we are offering models in all of the prototypical paint schemes, including the Demonstrator scheme. We are also offering two Union Pacific sets. There has been a debate over the years about which road numbers the units would have been assigned, so we have built models painted for both 1600A/1601A and also 998/999.
