The SoundTraxx 884010 is a TSU-N18 Tsunami2 digital sound decoder with the Steam-2 sound set. Tsunami2 combines a 16-bit sound system, Hyperdrive2 motor control, Hyperlight lighting effects and a full NMRA-compliant DCC decoder on one board, driven by a 32-bit processor with 16 polyphonic sound channels. This version is the Next18 decoder for N and small HO models, rated 1A and suited to N and small HO models with a Next18 socket. Dynamic Digital Exhaust reads the load on the motor and notches the engine up and down on its own, so the locomotive sounds like it is working for its train. Is a speaker included?No. Pair it with an 8-ohm speaker rated 1 watt or better that fits your shell. How is Steam-2 different from the standard Steam set?The chuffs, bells, airpumps and dynamos are the same. The difference is the whistle library: Steam-2 offers 90 whistles against 63 on the standard Steam set, with many roadname-specific additions. Does it run on DC?Yes. Tsunami2 runs on a standard DC power pack as well as DCC, though sound and lighting options are limited on DC. Full function control needs a DCC system.
