Do I have to build the hose-drying tower?
No — the tower is optional. Build with the tower for a classic early/mid-20th century look, or skip it for a more modern compact firehouse footprint.
Can I pick which apparatus doors to use?
Yes — the kit includes BOTH modern glass overhead doors AND vintage wooden swing doors. You choose which set to install during assembly to match your layout's era.
Will modern fire trucks fit through the bays?
Yes — the bays are sized to fit most HO Scale fire apparatus models, including modern engines, ladders, and rescue trucks.
Does it need painting?
It's molded in appropriate colors and looks great built straight from the box. Painting the cornice details and weathering the brick will push the realism further if you want to invest the extra time.
