NixTrainz NixTrainz | Decoder Buddy Mini (1k Ohm Resistors Onboard)
The Decoder Buddy Mini was developed to fit into smaller steam and diesel applications. there has also been interest in HOn3 and S-Gauge applications. This mother board does not include the 21 Pin Decoder. This mother board requires soldering. These printed circuit board is NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN A DC SYSTEM. The mother board includes: One 21 Pin Decoder receptacle Two pairs of track input pads One pair of motor input pads One set of stay alive pads (U+ , GND and if necessary a third control wire ) One pair of speaker pads Resistors for use with LED lighting. (Also available with 0 ohm, 750 ohm and custom specified resistors for function outputs. This accommodates some previously installed and "12 volt LEDs".) It is IMPORTANT to realize that resistors must be used when LEDs are connected to the four lighting outputs of the Mini!!! The resistors may be soldered in line when purchased or the included resistors may be soldered inline upon installation. Remember there are different incandescent lamp voltage requirements and current draw that have to be taken into consideration also. (Until the next batch is produced the Mini will be labeled Tiny and the picture on the package will indicate the correct headlight outputs for direction of locomotive.)

ESU LLC ESU 53900 | DCC Decoder Tester - Cube Speaker & LEDs | Multi Scale
Perhaps you are familiar with this scenario: there is a digital decoder sitting on your workbench and you want to test it prior to a perhaps complex installation. But how to do this? The Profi Decoder tester makes it easy for you: simply connect the tester to your command station or the LokProgrammer. It enables you to test any decoder without exposing it to any external factors caused by the locomotive that may influence its performance. Features In order to make things as easy as possible for you, the Profi Decoder Tester is equipped with some useful features. It has all commonly used interface sockets for connecting a decoder for the smaller scale models: Besides a 6-pole NEM 651 socket and the 8-pole NEM 652 socket, it also has an 21MTC interface as per NEM 660, a PluX22 socket as well as a Next18 interface: No matter which type of decoder you have: Simply plug it in – it will fit! And that’s all there is to it! Decoders without any interface can be contacted with individual terminals. A quality coreless motor with flywheel serves in conjunction with LEDs indicating the direction for checking the motor output: Thus it is quite easy to check on the low speed performance and the even speed of the decoder. An LED monitor informs you about the functioning of the headlights and back-up lights as well as the function outputs AUX1 through AUX6. For testing LokSound decoders we have integrated a 20 mm speaker. You may choose if the integral speaker should be switched off or if it should have 100 Ohm respectively 16 Ohm – thus the Decoder Tester is perfectly suitable for any ESU decoder generation! Two SUSI plugs facilitate the direct test of optional SUSI modules as well as the connection to another circuit board. The electrical connection to either the command station or the LokProgrammer is facilitated by a removable, 2-pole terminal block (same system as used on the LokProgrammer and the ECoS) or via two solder points. The dimensions of the ESU Decoder Tester are 99 x 74 x 34mm. NixTrainz NixTrainz | Decoder Buddy Version 5B (1K Ohm, 8 Outputs) | HO Scale
This product is versatile in terms of direction of the placement of the board and mounting in various configurations. It can easily replace a QSI board, a Dual Mode decoder board or be mounted directly on the electric motor or frame with Kapton tape. (It is recommended that a piece of Kapton tape be placed on the bottom of the mother board to assure electrical isolation from the electric motor or frame.) This mother board does not include a 21 Pin Decoder. This mother board and connector board require soldering. These printed circuit boards are NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN A DC SYSTEM. The on board resistors are sized for LEDs. (1K) V5 (old) vs V5B (current) The V5 has the capability of easily adding a two wire stay alive. The U+ and the GND pads are positioned close together and work well. The three wire stay alive or Power Pack has a third wire that could be connected to pin-1 on the base of the 21-pin connector. Pin -1 is associated with Aux 10 on a Loksound 5 decoder and used to turn the Power Pack off and on. It is used frequently but not as easy to solder to as a pad. I have a video on my Facebook page of the procedure. The V5B has a dedicated pad for the white control wire of the Power Pack and is labeled "W". Now there are six pads in the row of soldering pads on the bottom of the board just under the small light connector board in the picture on the right. They are, right to left; W, U+, GND, A12, A11 and U+. The other difference is that the "W" pad is connected to pin-2 of the 21-pin connector and the Aux 7 function controls the Power Pack on this board. It is the default function assigned to the LokSound 5 decoders. Package Includes: 1x Mother Board 1x Connector Board Dimensions: 0.67" x 2.20" x 0.35" (17 mm x 56 mm x 0.9 mm)The mother board includes; One 21 Pin Decoder receptacle, Two pairs of track input pads, One pair of motor input pads, One pair of stay alive pads (U+ and GND), Pads for two Aux functions (Version 5 Feature) Two pairs of speaker pads wired in parallel, Resistors for use with LED lighting. (on board 1K) The connector board contains pads for twelve pairs of lighting function connections. U+ or the blue wire has twelve connected pads for the common power source. The negative (-) discrete function pads are all labeled to indicate their connection to the functions available in the decoder. The lighting connector was designed so that the shell of the diesel locomotive can be easily separated from the frame without un-soldering wires. This does require that the headlight and rear lights be mounted in the shell of the locomotive and that the diesel has a removable dynamic brake shell. Incandescent lamps or bulbs are not well suited for the Decoder Buddys or associated decoders. It can be done but it will require more electronics to achieve a result. Our recommendation is to go with LEDs.
