Description
Based on a typical two-track design, the Walthers Cornerstone Wood Coaling Tower will be a focal point in any engine terminal. Towers like this were built in yards at servicing facilities as well as along the mainlines and branchlines to refuel engines on the road. This easy-to-build plastic model features a realistic coal bunker plus detailed chutes and mechanisms. A hopper unloading shed sits along one side for receiving coal. Like the prototype, it can serve two tracks at once, making it an ideal choice for maximizing service in minimum space. Place it in the vicinity of a roundhouse or engine shed, turntable, water tank and sand tower and you'll have a complete engine servicing facility for your railroad. The Wood Coaling Tower could still be standing in a late-steam or early-diesel era scene, a reminder of how things used to be.
