The Walthers Mainline 910-46048 is a 50' ACF exterior-post boxcar in Norfolk Southern paint, road #2247. The exterior-post design with Dreadnaught ends and Plate B clearance made these cars a common sight on freight trains from the 1960s through today, hauling everything from paper and lumber to general merchandise. Crisp NS black-and-white lettering and ready-to-run detail make it an easy addition to any modern or transition-era HO consist.

What does "exterior post" and "Plate B" mean?
Exterior-post boxcars have the structural posts on the outside of the car sides (instead of smooth sides). "Plate B" is an AAR clearance plate designation defining the car's maximum height/width envelope — Plate B cars fit virtually all of North America's rail network.
What era is this car right for?
1960s through present. These 50' boxcars were built in large numbers and many remain in service, so they work on transition-era through modern layouts.
Are couplers and metal wheels included?
Yes — ships ready-to-run with knuckle couplers and metal RP-25 wheelsets. No upgrades needed.
Does it work with all HO track?
Yes. Walthers Mainline cars roll on all NMRA standard HO track systems — code 100, code 83, and code 70.
