The Walthers Mainline 910-8223 is an 89' flatcar carrying a tri-level open auto rack, lettered for Southern Pacific (rack #84797). Tri-level open racks were the workhorses of new-automobile transport from the 1960s onward, hauling three decks of cars cross-country with open sides that let modelers show off a load of vehicles. At nearly a scale 89 feet, it's one of the longest and most eye-catching freight cars you can run.

Does it come loaded with cars?
No — the rack ships empty. The open sides make it easy to add HO-scale vehicle loads (sold separately) for a fully loaded look, or run it as an empty return.
What minimum curve radius does it need?
As an 89' car it's best on 24" radius or broader. It will negotiate tighter curves but with noticeable overhang; very tight set-track curves aren't recommended.
Are couplers and metal wheels included?
Yes — ships ready-to-run with knuckle couplers and metal RP-25 wheelsets.
What era does it fit?
Tri-level open auto racks appeared in the 1960s and many ran for decades, so it works for transition-era through modern layouts.
