Description
The Kolinsky Masterclass is the top brush in The Army Painter's Wargamer range: a size 2/0 round made from Kolinsky sable and handmade in Germany. Kolinsky hair holds more paint than synthetic fibre and springs back to a sharp point stroke after stroke, which is exactly what you want for highlights, eyes, gauge faces, lettering and rivet detail on figures, locomotives and detail parts in any scale.
The Army Painter has retired this brush from its current range, so stock is limited to what we have on hand.

Features
- Kolinsky sable hair. The premium natural hair for detail brushes. It carries a deep reservoir of paint so you can finish a line before reloading.
- Holds a needle point. The tip snaps back after every stroke, which keeps edge highlights and tiny dots crisp.
- Size 2/0 round. Fine enough for eyes, buttons, number boards and gauges, with enough belly to lay down smooth highlights.
- Handmade in Germany. Each brush is shaped by hand, the way sable brushes have always been made.
- Works with acrylics, washes and inks. Use it with Army Painter Warpaints or any water-based hobby paint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as Army Painter's newer Masterclass brushes?
No. BR7017P is the original Wargamer Kolinsky Masterclass. The newer Masterclass brushes are a separate line with different item numbers.
Is it a good brush for model trains?
Yes. A 2/0 sable is a go-to size for HO and N scale figures, lettering touch-ups, lamp lenses, gauges and detail parts, and it is just as useful on O and G scale models.
How do I make a sable brush last?
Rinse it often while painting, keep paint out of the metal ferrule, never leave it standing in water, and reshape the point before it dries. A little brush soap after each session keeps the hair soft.
Can you get more once these sell out?
No. This brush has been discontinued by the manufacturer, so our current stock is all we can offer.
