Description
Army Painter Quickshade is a tinted varnish that shades and protects a model in one step. Basecoat your figures, vehicles or detail parts in flat colours, dip them in the tin (or brush it on), shake off the excess and let it dry. The tint settles into every recess and fold, leaving natural shading and a tough protective coat behind.
Dark Tone is the strongest of the three: a near-black brown that gives the heaviest contrast. Use it over dark basecoats, metallics and anything that should look worn and grimy.

Features
- Shade and seal in one step. One dip shades the whole model and leaves a hard varnish coat that protects the paint from handling.
- Built for speed. Ideal when you have a lot of models to finish: crowds of HO or O scale figures, a lineup of vehicles, crates, barrels and other detail parts.
- Dip or brush. Dip small parts and figures, or brush it onto larger models and anything glued in place.
- Works on any colour basecoat. Paint flat colours, then let Quickshade do the shading and depth.
- 250ml tin. A large tin that goes a long way across many models.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which tone should I buy?
Choose Dark Tone for dark colours, metal and heavy contrast. Strong Tone is the all-round medium brown, and Soft Tone is lighter for pale models like white or yellow.
Does it dry glossy?
Yes. Quickshade dries with a gloss finish. Spray a matt varnish such as Army Painter Anti-Shine over it once it is fully dry for a flat, realistic look.
How long does it take to dry?
Let it cure overnight, ideally a full 24 hours, before handling or varnishing. Work in a well-ventilated area and stir the tin well before use.
What do I clean my brush with?
Quickshade is solvent based, so clean brushes with white spirit or mineral spirits, not water.
