The Digitrax SH2AB is a complete mainline signalling kit for HO scale - four single-head signals in the A and B mast configurations used to signal a double-track main, with the mounting board, plugs and hardware to install them. The current-limiting resistors are already on the board, so there is nothing to calculate and nothing to solder on the bench.

What does a mainline kit signal, compared with a turnout kit?
This one covers plain double track - two directions, A and B masts. For a junction or crossover you want a turnout kit such as the SHABC, which includes a dual-head signal for the diverging route.
Do I need anything else to make the signals work?
Yes - a signal decoder to drive the aspects (the SE8C is the intended partner), cabling to reach the masts such as the SDCK kit, and some form of block occupancy detection.
Do I need to add resistors?
No. Current-setting resistors are already on the mounting board, which is one of the main reasons to buy the kit rather than loose signal heads.
Will these work with a non-Digitrax system?
The signal heads themselves are just LEDs on a board and can be driven by other signal systems, but the 10-pin plug arrangement and the resistor board are designed around the Digitrax SE8C.
