The Digitrax SP13138 is a 13mm round 8 ohm speaker for the tightest sound installs. At just over half an inch across it drops into N scale shells, tenders and small HO hoods where a 28mm speaker will never fit, and it ships with interface wires already attached so there is nothing to solder at the speaker end.

Will this speaker work with my sound decoder?
Yes, as long as the decoder drives an 8 ohm load. Check your decoder manual for the rated speaker impedance - a decoder that specifies 32 ohms needs a 32 ohm speaker instead, such as the Digitrax SP282832.
Do I really need a baffle or enclosure?
It makes a large difference. A bare speaker cone lets front and back waves cancel each other, which kills the bass. A sealed box - even one you fold from sheet styrene - will noticeably improve volume and tone.
Can I wire two of these to one decoder?
Two 8 ohm speakers in series give 16 ohms, which is safe for most decoders. Wiring them in parallel drops the load to 4 ohms and can damage the decoder, so check the manual before doubling up.
Does it come with a plug?
No. The SP13138 has bare interface wires. If you want a speaker that plugs straight into a compatible motherboard, look at the Digitrax SP26158BC with its 2-pin plug.
