The Digitrax UR90X is a fascia panel with an infrared receiver built in, so compatible Digitrax throttles can be operated untethered - point the throttle at the panel and keep walking. It also works as an ordinary universal panel, with a front throttle jack, two rear LocoNet jacks for daisy-chaining, and indicator LEDs that tell you at a glance whether LocoNet is alive and whether the receiver is seeing your throttle.

What is the difference between the UR90X and a plain universal panel?
A universal panel such as the UP7 gives you throttle jacks and LocoNet connections. The UR90X adds an infrared receiver, so a compatible IR throttle can be used without plugging in at all.
Which throttles work cordlessly with it?
Digitrax throttles with infrared capability. A tethered throttle plugs into the front jack as normal, so the panel is useful either way.
How many do I need?
Infrared is line-of-sight, so plan one within sight of each operating position rather than spacing them by distance alone. Around a curve or behind a backdrop, the signal will not reach.
Do I need a separate power supply?
Not for normal operation - LocoNet powers the panel. A 12V DC supply is only needed if you want throttle charging to continue while LocoNet is asleep.
