What's the difference between this set and the older Polar Express LionChief set?
This 2123130 set adds Bluetooth 5.0 app control (so you can run it from your phone or tablet) and the Disappearing Hobo feature on a dedicated car. It still includes the classic LionChief handheld remote.
Will this run on my existing O Gauge layout?
Yes, as long as your minimum curve is O36 or larger. The locomotive is built to navigate O36 curves and the LionChief electronics work on any standard FasTrack or compatible O Gauge powered track.
Is this DCC?
No — LionChief uses Lionel's proprietary remote/app control system, not NMRA DCC. It runs on conventional AC power and is controlled via the included remote or the Bluetooth 5.0 app.
