Whether set in the days when Shays and Heislers ruled the forests, or served by contemporary diesels and trucks, the Walthers Cornerstone Mountain Lumber Company sawmill can be the centerpiece of any logging operation. Everything you'll need to start work is included, from the log conveyor to the burner. The mill building is enclosed with board and batten siding and covered with a corrugated metal roof. This style is typical of permanent operations or those that ran in areas where the weather could turn cold. At the back is a canopied area, where fresh-cut boards are sorted. To keep the machinery running, there's a nicely detailed powerhouse with twin smokestacks. And for the final touch, you get a sawdust burner, used to dispose of scrap lumber and sawdust from the cutting operations. Typical of buildings constructed from the 1920s to the 1940s and still in use today, the Mountain Lumber Company model fits easily into steam- or diesel-era layouts. The Mountain Lumber Company is just one of a wide variety of Cornerstone industrial buildings. Includes main mill, log conveyor, powerhouse and sawdust burner Realistic wood-textured walls and canopied sorting area on main mill Fits steam and diesel-era layouts Printed signs Easy-to-build plastic kit Molded in appropriate colors Main Building: 13 x 16 x 5-3/4" or 32.5 x 40 x14.3cm Log Conveyor: 3 x 21" or 7.5 x 52.5cm Powerhouse: 4-1/8 x 4-3/8 x 4-1/2" or 10.3 x 10.9 x 11.2cm Sawdust Burner: 3-7/8" or 9.6cm Diameter x 4-1/4" or 10.6cm Tall

Walthers Cornerstone Walthers Cornerstone 933-2901 | 3-Stall Modern Roundhouse Addition | HO Scale

    Out of stock

The Walthers Cornerstone 3-Stall Modern Roundhouse Addition enlarges the hallmark of steam-era railroading on your HO layout - the 3-Stall Modern Roundhouse. If you model the diesel era you'll also find this kit to be a centerpiece of your servicing facility since some of these classics are still used today for servicing diesels. No matter the weather, workers could easily inspect and service locos under cover. Size was based on the number of engines coming and going in any 24-hour period, with the busiest terminals requiring full-circle roundhouses. This add-on kit includes three stalls on 10-degree center without side walls so you can make an addition to your Modern Roundhouse. For more realism, interior and exterior brick wall details, fine windows, floor inspection pits and much more are all standard. Locos up to 125 scale feet long fit easily inside and parts for a single 145 foot long stall are also included as many modern roundhouses were expanded to handle large locos like Mallets. If you need more than three stalls to house your steam fleet, the 3-Stall Modern Roundhouse Addition makes expanding the Modern Roundhouse (933-2900, sold separately) easy. Though engines started getting bigger early in the 20th century, no one could foresee the monsters that were in regular service by the 1940s. These locos required equally large servicing areas, so some roads simply added and extended a few roundhouse stalls to handle them. This conversion kit adds three matching stalls to the Modern Roundhouse (933-2900, sold separately). With additional kits, you can expand the basic building to any size your railroad requires. Engines up to 125' fit easily inside, and parts to build a single 145' long stall are included - big enough to hold a Big Boy.  Add-on stalls for the Modern Roundhouse (933-2900, sold separately) Authentic North American prototype Holds engines up to 125 scale feet long Includes stall for bigger engines up to 145 scale feet long Expand the Modern Roundhouse up to a full circle Compact 10-degree stall spacing Interior and exterior brick detail Fine window details Floor inspection pits Decal signs included The basic Modern Roundhouse measures 17-3/4" (20-1/8" with extended stall) x 16 x 5-1/2" or 44.3 (50.3) x 40 x 13.7cm. The add-on stalls will enlarge it.

Based on a typical two-track design, the Walthers Cornerstone Wood Coaling Tower will be a focal point in any engine terminal. Towers like this were built in yards at servicing facilities as well as along the mainlines and branchlines to refuel engines on the road. This easy-to-build plastic model features a realistic coal bunker plus detailed chutes and mechanisms. A hopper unloading shed sits along one side for receiving coal. Like the prototype, it can serve two tracks at once, making it an ideal choice for maximizing service in minimum space. Place it in the vicinity of a roundhouse or engine shed, turntable, water tank and sand tower and you'll have a complete engine servicing facility for your railroad. The Wood Coaling Tower could still be standing in a late-steam or early-diesel era scene, a reminder of how things used to be. Based on a typical North American railroad structure Serves two tracks Includes coal delivery shed Loaded with separate details Includes decal signs Molded in appropriate colors  Servicing track centers are 2-1/2" 6.4cm Hoist track is 3-1/2" 8.9cm from centerline of track under the tower.
