Great for railroads that preferred four-axle diesels for their passenger runs, prototypes for the WalthersProto EMD FP7 came equipped with more boiler water capacity on their stretched chassis. Providing enough steam to power train heat and some air conditioning systems on postwar trains taxed the standard water supply of standard EMD F7 A units set-up for passenger service, prompting EMD to roll out the new FP7 in 1949. Though outwardly similar to the F7A, FP7s were actually four feet longer to accommodate bigger water tanks with a capacity of 950 US gallons. Standard passenger power into the Amtrak era and beyond (with some also handling freight chores), these WalthersProto HO EMD FP7 replicas are fully assembled and ready for service with:

  • One time run of these roadnumbers, order now - limited quantity available!
  • Matches the prototypes' extended frame and body
  • Available with ESU LokSound 5 Sound and DCC for DCC and DC layouts
