Peco SL-96 | Code 100 Medium Radius Turnout - Streamline, Left Hand, Insulfrog | HO Scale

Description

The Peco SL-96 is a Code 100 Streamline medium radius turnout, left hand, with an Insulfrog (insulated, all-plastic frog) for HO and OO layouts. It is the everyday choice for mainline junctions, passing sidings and yard ladders. Code 100 rail accepts flanges up to 1.6mm deep, so older deep-flange equipment and current RP-25 wheels run side by side without trouble.

The diverging road follows a 36" (914mm) radius with a 12 degree crossing angle, the same angle used across the whole Peco Code 100 Streamline turnout family. Because every Peco Code 100 turnout shares that geometry, small, medium and large radius points combine cleanly into ladders, crossovers and junctions.

  • Built-in over-center spring holds the points firmly in either position, so you can throw it by hand or add a switch machine later
  • Wood-grain sleepers (ties) molded with a realistic spacing
  • Shares Peco's common 12 degree geometry, so it lines up with every other Code 100 Streamline turnout and crossing

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it work with my Atlas or Walthers Code 100 track?
Yes. Code 100 is a rail height standard, so Peco Code 100 connects to any other Code 100 HO track with ordinary rail joiners.

What is the difference between Insulfrog and Electrofrog?
An Insulfrog has an insulated plastic frog, so it works straight out of the box on DC or DCC with no extra wiring. The Electrofrog version has a live metal frog for the best slow-speed running, but it needs insulated joiners and frog wiring.

Does it come with a switch machine?
No. The turnout has a built-in spring and can be thrown by hand. For remote control, it accepts a Peco point motor or an under-table machine such as the Circuitron Tortoise.

Are rail joiners included?
No. Pick up a pack of Peco SL-10 Code 100 rail joiners to connect it to the rest of your layout.

Is there a matching turnout for the other direction?
Yes. See the More in This Series list below for the other Peco Code 100 turnouts we carry.
