In 2023, we are building our third production run of USRA Heavy and Light Pacifics.   There were 20 original Heavy Pacifics built in 1919 for the USRA program, and all 20 went to Erie Railroad.  From 1923, numerous copies were built, and many railroads operated similar locomotives.  There were 81 original Light Pacifics built in 1919, and these were delivered to ACL, B&O, GTW, M&O (GM&O), and L&N.  Subsequently, each of these railroads built copies, and several other railroads operated locomotives with similar dimensions and equipment.  The Light Pacifics were limited to 54,000 lbs load per axle, versus 60,000 for the Heavy Pacifics, and this allowed the Light Pacifics to run on most main lines.  Our Heavy and Light models follow the original USRA designs closely.   Railroad specific variations are not modeled on these locomotives.  Many Pacifics used the same 10,000 gallon tender as the USRA Mikados, and our models uses this 10,000 gallon tender.  In addition to some of the prototypical USRA Pacifics, we are also decorating our USRA prototype in attractive paint schemes that similar Pacifics wore for other railroads, as well as a few striking fantasy paint schemes.  Our models are available in our Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC Series, or in our Stealth Series as No-Sound / DCC-Ready models.        Industry-Leading Features:  Paragon4 Sound & Operation System featuring ROLLING THUNDERTM  Authentic Sounds and Prototypical Operation in both DC and DCC environments Integral DCC Decoder with Back EMF for Industry Best Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC Precision Drive Mechanism engineered for continuous heavy load towing and smooth slow speed operation Prototypical Light Operation with Golden White LED Headlight Die Cast Boiler Body with Die Cast chassis for Maximum Tractive Effort Traction Tires for Additional Tractive Effort (2) Operating MicroTrains-compatible Couplers Separately Applied Handrails, Ladders, Whistle, and Brass Bell Will Operate on Code 55, 70, and 80 Rail Recommended Minimum Radius: 9.75 inches   Broadway Limited Imports is proud to introduce Paragon4: The new benchmark for premium HO sound-equipped locomotives. These DC and DCC-Sound equipped locomotives feature the ALL-NEW Paragon4 sound and control system. Each Paragon4 locomotive comes with BLI's own integral DCC Decoder factory installed.  Paragon4 locomotives offer Dual Mode DC and DCC operation with superb back EMF motor control, improved DC motor control, built-in capacitor pack for more reliable electrical pick-up, industry best on-board sound with Rolling Thunder functionality, Pro Lighting Mode for prototypical light control, Switcher model for precise low speed control, recordable DCC operation for automated playback, and the same excellent detail level as Broadway Limited's Paragon3 Series models.    Paragon4 Sound & Control System Features: Operates in DC & DCC with improved DC speed control (use DCMaster for DC Sound) Built-In extra capacitance to navigate imperfect track Pro Lighting Mode offers individual control of all lights on model Switcher Mode for precise low speed control Record & Play Operation - Records and plays back sounds and movements once or repeatedly for automatic operation High Resolution Audio Quillable Horn for various whistle lengths and patterns Choice of 3 selectable Horns Alternate Whistle / Horn where applicable for locomotive with air horn and steam whistle - both the main whistle and alternate can be easily played Adjustable bell ringing interval for faster or slower bell Numerous user-mappable functions with available keys Multiple realistic passenger and crew sounds play on command Grade Crossing Automatic Signal Automatic Forward / Reverse Signal Prime Mover sound intensity varies with load Individually adjustable sound volumes for each effect EZ Reset Button for quick return to factory default settings

EMD’s E-8 (and successor, E-9) were the quintessential North American passenger locomotive of the 1950s through the 1970s. 450 E8A and 46 E8B units were produced, with an additional 100 E9A and 44 E9B locos following. The first E8s were delivered in 1949, with the last E9 being produced in 1964. These units pulled passenger trains from coast to coast, and later became the backbone of Amtrak’s fleet in its early days. Many more were later used in commuter service before being retired. Today several units live on in museums and tourist railroads throughout North America. What makes Rapido’s E8 and E9 models different than every E8 or E9 that has come before? Simple – we’re doing it right. Every E8 model out there is a “best guess” as to the nose, roof and windshield contours of the real thing. At Rapido’s we don’t believe in making guesses. That’s why we commissioned a 3D laser scan of Union Pacific E8 #942 at the Southern California Railway Museum. A 3D scan ensures that we get those impossible-to-guess contours bang-on accurate. Our engineers trace the scan and shrink it down to HO scale. Rapido’s E8 model features: 3D laser-scanned body shell Accurate nose and roof contours Seven different noses Three different back ends Two different sides – with and without lifting lug covers Three different steam generator options 36” fan, 48” fan or non-dynamic brake options Single- or dual-headlight configurations Freight or passenger pilots Three styles of side grills Original porthole sides or rebuilt with blanked sides (including unique variations) Skirted or non-skirted fuel tanks Original square and sloped or Hyatt roller bearing journal boxes Heavy die-cast chassis Smooth running drive system with all wheels powered Complete lighting effects – headlights, class lights, backup lights, ground lights, cab lights and more Numerous road-specific detail parts in both plastic and etched metal Below is a list of just SOME of the road-specific detail parts that we are producing: Four different sand filler hatch styles PRR Train Phone antenna Southern rooftop air tanks Southern large-capacity water tanks UP snow shields Cab-side walkways (2 styles) Pilot MU hoses ATS shoes PRR Nose lifting lugs Three different radio antenna Six different headlight/warning light inserts Various bug screens, mirrors, and wind deflectors Numerous grab iron configurations Several horn styles (in brass) And probably more that we’ve forgotten! Blunami will change the way you enjoy the model railroading hobby! The Blunami BLU-2200The BLU-2200 is a universal-style sound decoder that can be operated in three different ways: DC, DCC and Wireless mode. Using the Blunami app (iOS versions 8 or later), you can operate your locomotive with incredible ease of use. This decoder is suitable for use in both HO and small S-scale models. Wireless mode not currently available for android devices. DYNAMIC DIGITAL EXHAUST For added realism, you’ll love SoundTraxx's reactive Dynamic Digital Exhaust (DDE) feature that automatically notches your models engine up or down depending on the load on the motor. With the Blunami App, DDE calibration has never been easier. When your locomotive is traveling across flat terrain and simply maintaining speed, you will hear your locomotive chugging along. But, when the locomotive encounters a grade and the engineer applies more throttle to get the train up the hill, the engine sounds will automatically react and reflect the increase of power needed to crest the hill. DDE accomplishes this by calculating the changes in strain or load on the motor and adjusting the exhaust to appropriately simulate the work the engineer would be doing to the throttle of the engine. This gives Blunami the ability to create the most realistic experience possible. HIGH QUALITY SOUND LIBRARYSoundTraxx's large selection of high quality sound effects include:  10 Exhaust Chuffs Up to 12 Prime Movers in each sound profile  Up to 12 Bells  90 Whistles 40+ Airhorns Additional couplers, dynamos, cab chatter and more! ADDED REALISMAdditional realism can be simulated by adding functioning locomotive and train brakes, injectors, power reverse, firebox flicker and more. EASY INSTALLATIONThe BLU-2200 can simply plug into models equipped with a DCC quick plug. Our 9-Pin JST to NMRA 8-Pin Wiring Harness (P.N. 810135) can also be used to plug the BLU-2200 into models equipped with an NMRA 8-Pin plug. The BLU-2200 can also be wired into a large variety of models. This 2-amp, universal-style format, and includes a connector to easily add a CurrentKeeper (P.N. 810140 or 810160) to maintain performance over dirty track and switches.
