Walthers Cornerstone Walthers Cornerstone 933-3262 | Modern Coaling Tower - Building Kit | N Scale
* Authentic Concrete Design * Serves Three Tracks * Coal Delivery Shed * Loaded with Separate Details * Decal Signs Included As larger engines entered service, many railroads found their older coaling towers couldn't handle the increased demand. By the 1920s, railroads began contracting with outside firms to build new coaling towers. Concrete was the material of choice as it was easy to use, affordable, fireproof and weatherproof. Based on an Ogle design, the Modern Coaling Tower will be a focal point in any engine terminal. And towers like this were also built on the mainline to refuel engines on the road. The model features realistic "concrete" walls plus detailed chutes and mechanisms. Like the prototype, it can serve three tracks at once, making it an ideal choice for maximizing service in minimum space. The same sturdy construction that made these towers appealing to railroads also made them hard to get rid of! With its metal parts removed for scrap, the tower could still be standing in a contemporary scene, a reminder of how things used to be. Walthers Cornerstone Walthers Cornerstone 933-3243 | Al's Victory Service Gas Station - Building Kit | N Scale
Not too long ago, prototypes for the Cornerstone Al's Victory Service Gas Station like Al's could be found at every busy city intersection and along most major highways. Premium was 25 cents a gallon, maps were free and restrooms were clean. There was a mechanic on duty who could fix anything. And Al always wore a spotless uniform when he came out to pump your gas, check the oil and wash the windows. Introduced in the late 1930s, box style stations Al's this sprang up from coast to coast and remained a standard well into the 1950s. Combining the office, restrooms and service bays into one structure, they provided a uniform, neat appearance that attracted motorists. Lots of windows made them bright and cheerful, as did the enameled steel walls decorated in company colors. Although newer stations have taken their place, many survive today and many have been repurposed as independent garages, body shops, retail stores and offices. A few have even been converted into private homes! Authentic styling looks great on any vintage or modern street scene. Optional pumps are included to match your era from the late 1930s to the 1980s, along with colorful decal signs for the finishing touch. Just add vehicles, figures and interior details, available separately, to create a busy scene anywhere along your layout. The finished Al's Victory Service Gas Station model measures: 3-1/4 x 2-1/4" 8.1 x 5.6cm Classic box-style gas station Realistic Art Deco styling Freestanding streetside sign Decal signs Molded in appropriate colors and clear glazing More Information Item # 933-3243 Brand Walthers Cornerstone Scale N Type Building Kit Size 3-1/4 x 2-1/4" or 8.1 x 5.6cm Availability In-Stock/Restockable TCA Grading C-10 Mint - Brand New Instruction Sheet View/Download

Walthers Cornerstone Walthers Cornerstone 933-3245 | Ice House & Icing Platform - Building Kit | N Scale
The Walthers Cornerstone Icehouse and Icing Platform brings back the heady days of railroading when fast freights forwarded meat and produce to market in ice-cooled reefers. From the 1880s to the 1970s, ice-cooled reefers were a fixture of railroading. Solid trains raced across country with their perishable loads riding in long strings of refrigerator cars. Supplying ice for the cars in transit was a huge industry. Railroads built ice houses and platforms, like this kit, about every 250-300 miles. Here, entire trains could be serviced and on the move in minutes. This complete kit includes a detailed icehouse, based on a prototype in Antigo, Wisconsin, plus a modular icing platform, from a Pacific Fruit Express design. Lots of add-on details, including an optional platform roof (used in warm areas to shade ice and slow melting), roof vents and 24 ice blocks are included. The plastic parts are molded in color for easy assembly and complete instructions are provided. As shown the Icehouse and Icing Platform kit measures: 9-7/8 x 3-3/4" 25 x 9.5cm The Icehouse and Icing Platform is just one of a wide variety of Cornerstone N Scale industrial buildings. Prototypical wooden icehouse Found along railroads from the 1800s to the 1970s Icing platform includes optional canopy 24 ice blocks Molded in appropriate colors More Information Item # 933-3245 Brand Walthers Cornerstone Scale N Type Building Kit Size 9-7/8 x 3-3/4" or 25 x 9.5cm Availability In-Stock/Restockable TCA Grading C-10 Mint - Brand New Instruction Sheet View/Download
