Yes — the Paragon4 decoder is a dual-mode design that runs out of the box on any DC powerpack. Sounds and lights work in DC mode too, with improved DC speed control.

Does it work with DCC layouts?
Absolutely. The factory-installed Paragon4 sound decoder is fully DCC-capable with quillable horn, configurable bell, individually addressable lights, and Rolling Thunder bass enhancement on supported throttles.

What's the minimum curve radius?
9-inch radius — friendly for tight N scale layouts. For best appearance and reliable operation we still recommend wider curves (11" or larger) when possible.

What is the C&O Heritage paint?
It's a special CSX scheme honoring predecessor railroad Chesapeake & Ohio. CSX painted a small group of ES44ACs in heritage liveries to mark the company's history — #1869 wears the classic C&O yellow and blue. A great prototype-modern unit with vintage character.
