Description

Add a classic Western fallen flag to your N scale layout with this Micro-Trains 40' Standard Boxcar, decorated for Denver & Rio Grande Western #50164 in the railroad's iconic boxcar red with the "Rio Grande" speed-lettering scheme. Built in 1947 by Pullman Standard, this prototype car spent its early life on the New Haven before making its way west to the D&RGW and being repainted in the mid-1960s — making it a great fit for transition-era and 1960s-1970s mountain railroading layouts.

Yes. It comes fully assembled and decorated, with Micro-Trains body-mounted knuckle couplers and metal wheels installed — just unbox and place it on the rails.

What era is this car appropriate for?
The prototype was built in 1947 and repainted in the mid-1960s, so this car fits any layout from the mid-1960s through the early 1980s. Works especially well for D&RGW mountain railroading scenes.

What couplers does it use?
Micro-Trains Magne-Matic body-mounted knuckle couplers, compatible with most other N scale knuckle couplers including Kadee-style designs.
