Description

The WalthersMainline 910-46615 is a ready-to-run HO scale 50' AAR Improved Double-Door Boxcar lettered for the Pennsylvania Railroad as #88387. The improved AAR design — first built in the late 1940s and used for decades — features wide double doors for loading lumber, appliances, and other oversized cargo. This is a one-time run of these road numbers, so once they're gone they're gone.

FAQ

Is this ready to run?
Yes — it's a fully assembled, factory-painted, ready-to-run model. Add it to a train and roll.

Will the couplers work with my Kadee® cars?
Yes. Walthers Proto MAX couplers are metal knuckle couplers that mate with Kadee #5/#58 and other industry-standard knuckles.

What era does it fit?
The improved AAR double-door boxcar entered service in the late 1940s and stayed in revenue use through the 1980s, so it works for transition-era through modern PRR, Penn Central, and Conrail layouts.

Are the wheels metal?
Yes — 33" RP-25 turned metal wheels in AAR Bettendorf trucks. Smooth-rolling and good for picking up power for resistor-equipped detection setups.
