Metra #500 is the unit that wears the RTA Tribute scheme, a nod to the Regional Transportation Authority paint that ran on Chicago commuter trains before the Metra name took over. Rapido has captured it on their HO SD70MACH in light blue and black with orange striping and a red and white striped nose.
This is the top-of-the-line version: factory DC, DCC and sound, plus working radiator fans that spin on the roof. Metra rebuilt its SD70MACs with head end power, microprocessor controls, Tier 1 emissions and 80 mph gearing, turning a heavy-haul freight engine into a passenger hauler, and Rapido models the rebuild rather than a generic SD70MAC shell.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the pre-order work?
Pick your terms at checkout: pay in full, or pay a 10% deposit with the balance invoiced before it ships. Either way your unit is held for you.
What is the difference between this and the version without fans?
Both have DCC and sound. This version adds working radiator fans on the roof, which is why it costs more than the standard sound model.
Will it run on my DC layout?
Yes. It runs on standard DC as well as DCC, though you get the full sound and function control on DCC.
Do you have other Metra SD70MACs?
Yes, we also have Metra #525 in sound and DC versions. See the More in This Series list above.
What curves can it handle?
Rapido recommends a minimum radius of 22 inches.
