The SoundTraxx 885032 is a TSU-KN1 Tsunami2 digital sound decoder with the Kato N sound set. Tsunami2 combines a 16-bit sound system, Hyperdrive2 motor control, Hyperlight lighting effects and a full NMRA-compliant DCC decoder on one board, driven by a 32-bit processor with 16 polyphonic sound channels.
This version is the first plug-and-play Tsunami2 for Kato N-scale locomotives, supplied with a full install kit, rated 500mA and suited to N scale (Kato). Dynamic Digital Exhaust reads the load on the motor and notches the engine up and down on its own, so the locomotive sounds like it is working for its train.

Shop the full SoundTraxx range, compare every DCC decoder we stock, or see the other EMD / EMD-2 Diesel decoders. A speaker and baffle are included in the box. Find extra install parts in DCC wiring. Add a SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper to keep sound alive over dirty track and turnouts.
Will this fit my locomotive?
It measures 55 x 13.8 x 3.2mm and connects by plug-and-play board replacement for kato n-scale locomotives. Check that against the space in your shell before ordering — other Tsunami2 versions use different connectors and sizes.
Do I need to buy anything else?
No. The TSU-KN1 ships as a complete kit — decoder, Mini Cube 3 speaker and baffle, speaker wire, Kapton tape and two Sunny White LEDs. It is designed for Kato N-scale E-units, F-units, F40PH, PA and P42 locomotives.
Does it run on DC?
Yes. Tsunami2 runs on a standard DC power pack as well as DCC, though sound and lighting options are limited on DC. Full function control needs a DCC system.
