Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 7032 | EMD SD70ACe, UP #1983, Western Pacific Heritage livery, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | N Scale
The SD70ACe is the successor to the older SD70MAC. Built from 2004 to 2014 in the United States, the SD70ACe was originally designed to comply with EPA Tier 2 locomotive emissions regulations. Beginning in 2012, newly built SD70ACes were EPA Tier 3 compliant. SD70ACes are equipped with EMD's 16-710-G3C-T2 prime mover, rated at 4,300 horsepower (3,200 kW). Later Tier 3 models are rated at 4,500 horsepower (3,400 kW). They are rated at 157,000 lbf (700 kN) continuous tractive effort (191,000 lbf (850 kN) starting). Braking effort is rated at 106,000 lbf (470 kN). Although mechanically similar to earlier SD70 units, the SD70ACe rides on a new underframe and uses mostly new sheet metal above the frame. Electrical cables and air lines have been routed beneath the walkways on opposite sides, allowing easier access for maintenance. Continuing the designs of the SD80 and SD90 series, the radiator on the locomotive is nearly as wide as the cab, the center hood section is a step down below the roofline, and the dynamic brakes have been moved to the rear of the hood. The SD70ACe uses the cab design of late-model SD90MAC-H units, which uses rectangular window glass and is externally different from the two cab variations used on earlier SD70M and SD70MAC units. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab on subsequent SD70ACes after non-isolated cab units were restricted from leading on BNSF Railway due to excessive cab vibration. Our 2022 production is our third run of SD70ACe's in N scale, and our first with our Paragon4 DC/DCC sound & control system. In this run we are offering models in 18 different paint schemes. Each one has detail variations accurate for each paint scheme. The variations include low & high headlight, isolated and non-isolated cab, long and short sunshades, two brake wheel variations, three cab roof variations, and two blower vent layouts. Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 6946 | Light Pacific 4-6-2, NYC 4390, Sans Serif Lettering, Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | N Scale
In 2022, BLI is bringing out our second production of USRA Light and Heavy 4-6-2 steam locomotives, commonly called Light Pacifics and Heavy Pacifics! There were 20 original Heavy Pacifics built in 1919 for the USRA program, and all 20 went to Erie Railroad. From 1923, numerous copies were built, and many railroads operated similar locomotives. There were 81 original Light Pacifics built in 1919, and these were delivered to ACL, B&O, GTW, M&O (GM&O), and L&N. Subsequently, each of these railroads built copies, and several other railroads operated locomotives with similar dimensions and equipment. The Light Pacifics were limited to 54,000 lbs load per axle, versus 60,000 for the Heavy Pacifics, and this allowed the Light Pacifics to run on most main lines. Our Heavy and Light models follow the original USRA designs closely. Railroad specific variations are not modeled on these locomotives. Many Pacifics used the same 10,000 gallon tender as the USRA Mikados, and our models uses this 10,000 gallon tender. In our 2022 production run, we are building mostly Heavy and Light 4-6-2's that were quite similar to the USRA prototypes, but were not part of the USRA program. We have selected well-known locomotives with attractive paint schemes. Additionally, we will offer one unlettered Heavy Pacific and one unlettered Light Pacific. Both are painted black, with graphite firebox and smokebox, and are ready to be decorated and run on any railroad you like. Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 2510 | Baldwin Centipede A-A Set, UP #1600A/1601A Set, Yellow & Gray, both units w/ Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | HO Scale
Available for Special Order only Ships as soon as product becomes available! Estimated Time: 1 - 2 Weeks Free USA Shipping The Baldwin 12-8-1500/2 were BLW's first serious attempt at a production road diesel locomotive. Baldwin built the famous "Centipedes" between 1945-48. The carbody rode on two enormous articulated half-frames that were linked at the middled with a hinged joint. One unpowered four-wheel truck at each end guided the locomotive through curves and helped provide stability. The Centipedes were huge - 91.5' feet long for single units as operated on SAL and NdM. Semi-permanently coupled pairs, as operated on the PRR, were 183' long! Each unit contained two 1500 horsepower diesel motors, so a pair contained four motors and totaled 6000 horsepower. Centipedes were heavy, totaling 1,200,000 pounds (1.2 million) for a pair, with more than 800,000 of those pounds carried by the 16 drivers. In 1945, the prototype A1-A2 set toured American railroads and three railroads placed orders - PRR, SAL, and NdeM. Union Pacific originally ordered two units, but never took delivery. Unfortunately, the Centipedes did not last long in service. PRR and SAL retired theirs by the early 1960's and NdeM followed in the late 60's. The Centipedes were enormous, and maybe the most unique diesel locomotive design of the era, but they could not compete with the more capable EMD locomotives. In our 2022 production of Centipedes, we are offering models in all of the prototypical paint schemes, including the Demonstrator scheme. We are also offering two Union Pacific sets. There has been a debate over the years about which road numbers the units would have been assigned, so we have built models painted for both 1600A/1601A and also 998/999.
