Posted by Squeaky's Trains on October 8, 2026

Hey fellow railroaders! Holiday wish lists are starting early this year, and this week gave us plenty to add to them. Twenty one new arrivals just pulled into squeakystrains.com, led by a fresh run of Southern #4501 in N scale, and our clearance section has nearly 200 marked down items ready for your next project. Here is everything in one place, plus a new feature we think you will love this gift season: wishlists you can share with family.

Broadway Limited 10124: USRA Light Mikado, Southern Railway #4501

$339.99 Paragon4 Sound, DC and DCC

Southern Railway #4501 is back in green for 2026, with gold lettering and striping and a silver smokebox front, and Broadway Limited has captured that look in N scale. The Paragon4 version gives you sound on DC or DCC right out of the box, with a whistle you can play by hand, an adjustable bell, and extra capacitance that keeps the sound and lights going over dirty track and dead spots. The die cast body and chassis give it real pulling power for an excursion train or a steam era freight.

Planning to add your own decoder later? The Stealth DC, DCC ready version is $254.99. And a fun bit of history for the layout room: the real #4501 is a Baldwin Mikado built back in 1911.

Wishlists, Just In Time For Gift Season

Ever been asked what you want for the holidays and drawn a blank? Or tried to guess which road name the train lover in your family actually runs? Our new wishlists take care of both.

  • Tap the ♡ heart. Products all over our site now have a little heart on the photo. Tap it to save the item, then find everything you saved under the heart at the top of the page.
  • Make a list for anything. Keep one for the HO layout, one for the N scale project, or one called "Dad." Rate each item from one to five hearts so everyone can see what is at the top of your list, and add a note, like the road number you are after.
  • Share it with family. Sign in and each list gets its own share link, handy for birthdays and the holidays. Add a note for your gift-givers, too. People with the link see that list's items, notes and hearts, never your email or your other lists, and you can stop sharing any time.
  • Never miss a restock. If something on your list sells out, the list points you straight to a back-in-stock alert.

No account? No problem. Your lists are saved on your device, and when you sign in they move to your account so you can see them anywhere and share them.

At The Workbench: Test Your Holiday Loop First

Before the scenery and decorations go down, lay out your track on a firm, level surface and check that every rail sits snugly inside its joiner. Then run your longest locomotive and cars through every curve and turnout, in both directions. Tight spots are easy to fix now and a lot harder once there is a village, a tree skirt and a string of lights in the way.

If a section keeps losing power, a fresh set of rail joiners is usually the quickest fix. Peco Code 100 joiners just came in at $7.09 for a 24 pack. Leave a little room for overhang when you place buildings, too, so longer cars clear the corners.

21 new arrivals. Nearly 200 clearance deals. One good excuse to start the holiday layout early.
