  • Broadway Limited 2501 | Baldwin Centipede A-A Set, PRR #5831/#5819 Set, 5-Stripe Passenger Scheme, both units w/ Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | HO Scale - Squeaky's Trains

Broadway Limited Imports Broadway Limited 2501 | Baldwin Centipede A-A Set, PRR #5831/#5819 Set, 5-Stripe Passenger Scheme, both units w/ Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC | HO Scale

The Baldwin 12-8-1500/2 were BLW's first serious attempt at a production road diesel locomotive.   Baldwin built the famous "Centipedes" between 1945-48.   The carbody rode on two enormous articulated half-frames that were linked at the middled with a hinged joint.  One unpowered four-wheel truck at each end guided the locomotive through curves and helped provide stability.  The Centipedes were huge - 91.5' feet long for single units as operated on SAL and NdM.  Semi-permanently coupled pairs, as operated on the PRR, were 183' long!   Each unit contained two 1500 horsepower diesel motors, so a pair contained four motors and totaled 6000 horsepower.  Centipedes were heavy, totaling 1,200,000 pounds (1.2 million) for a pair, with more than 800,000 of those pounds carried by the 16 drivers. In 1945, the prototype A1-A2 set toured American railroads and three railroads placed orders - PRR, SAL, and NdeM.   Union Pacific originally ordered two units, but never took delivery.  Unfortunately, the Centipedes did not last long in service.   PRR and SAL retired theirs by the early 1960's and NdeM followed in the late 60's.   The Centipedes were enormous, and maybe the most unique diesel locomotive design of the era, but they could not compete with the more capable EMD locomotives.    In our 2022 production of Centipedes, we are offering models in all of the prototypical paint schemes, including the Demonstrator scheme.   We are also offering two Union Pacific sets.  There has been a debate over the years about which road numbers the units would have been assigned, so we have built models painted for both 1600A/1601A and also 998/999.     Industry-leading Model Features:    Paragon4 Sound & Control System featuring ROLLING THUNDER Integral Dual-Mode Decoder with Back EMF for Superb Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC Precision Drive Mechanism Engineered for Heavy Towing and Smooth Slow Speed Operation ABS Body with Die Cast Chassis for Maximum Tractive Effort Built-in Capacity Pack for Improved Electrical Pick-up Premium Caliber Painting Prototypically Accurate Paint Schemes and Road Numbers Many Separately Applied Details such as Handrails, Grab Irons, Horn, Bell, Wipers, and Etched Metal Grills Prototypical Light Operation Including Separately Controllable Headlight, Rear Light, Cab Light, and Numberboards Prototypically Accurate Sounds for the Baldwin Centipede Locomotive Metal Kadee-compatible Couplers (2) Will Operate on Code 70, Code 83, and Code 100 Rail Minimum Operating Radius:  22 inches     Broadway Limited Imports is proud to introduce Paragon4: The new benchmark for premium HO sound-equipped locomotives. These DC and DCC-Sound equipped locomotives feature the ALL-NEW Paragon4 sound and control system. Each Paragon4 locomotive comes with BLI's own integral DCC Decoder factory installed.  Paragon4 locomotives offer Dual Mode DC and DCC operation with superb back EMF motor control, improved DC motor control, built-in capacitor pack for more reliable electrical pick-up, industry best on-board sound with Rolling Thunder functionality, Pro Lighting Mode for prototypical light control, Switcher model for precise low speed control, recordable DCC operation for automated playback, and the same excellent detail level as Broadway Limited's Paragon3 Series models.    Paragon4 Sound & Control System Features: Operates in DC & DCC with improved DC speed control (use DCMaster for DC Sound) Built-In extra capacitance to navigate imperfect track Pro Lighting Mode offers individual control of all lights on model Switcher Mode for precise low speed control Record & Play Operation - Records and plays back sounds and movements once or repeatedly for automatic operation High Resolution Audio Quillable Horn for various whistle lengths and patterns Choice of 3 selectable Horns Alternate Whistle / Horn where applicable for locomotive with air horn and steam whistle - both the main whistle and alternate can be easily played Adjustable bell ringing interval for faster or slower bell Numerous user-mappable functions with available keys Multiple realistic passenger and crew sounds play on command Grade Crossing Automatic Signal Automatic Forward / Reverse Signal Prime Mover sound intensity varies with load Individually adjustable sound volumes for each effect EZ Reset Button for quick return to factory default settings **Specifications on this page subject to change.

SoundTraxx SoundTraxx 885618 | BLU-4408 Blunami GE Diesel Sound Decoder | Multi Scale

    2 reviews

The SoundTraxx 885618 is a BLU-4408 Blunami digital sound decoder with the GE sound set. Blunami is a Tsunami2 with a Bluetooth radio added, so it runs three ways: as a normal DCC decoder on any NMRA-compliant system, on plain DC, or in wireless mode straight from your phone or tablet. Wireless mode needs no command station and no programming track — an old DC power pack and the free Blunami app are enough, and CVs can be read and changed over Bluetooth while the locomotive is running. The app is free for iOS and Android. This version is the big-scale Blunami: a 4-amp motor rating and screw terminals instead of solder joints, suited to S, O and Large Scale. Features 8 GE prime movers: GE FDL-12, GE FDL-16, GE 7FDL-16, GE Dual FDL-16, GE GEVO G12, GE 44-Ton Center Cab Dual Caterpillar, GE Cummins Switcher, GEVO G12 Tier 4 Over 40 air horns and 13 bells, plus air compressors, couplers and dynamos Bluetooth control from the free Blunami app (iOS and Android) — over 300 settings without editing a single CV by hand Dynamic Digital Exhaust (DDE) automatically matches exhaust volume and RPM to the load on the motor, and the app calibrates it for you Three braking types: independent, train and dynamic braking Hyperdrive2 motor control for smooth, creep-speed switching Over 20 Hyperlight lighting effects across 8 function outputs 16 polyphonic sound channels on a 32-bit processor, with a 7-band equalizer and adjustable reverb CurrentKeeper ready — works with the SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper More Information Item Number: SoundTraxx 885618 Model: BLU-4408 Blunami Sound Set: GE Diesel Scale: S, O and Large Scale Decoder Size: 69 x 30.5 x 14mm Connection: Screw terminal blocks (no soldering) Max. Motor Stall Current: 4A Function Outputs: 8 Audio Amplifier: 3 Watt, 8-Ohm Load Sound Channels: 16 polyphonic Processor: 32-bit, 28 functions Control Modes: DC, DCC and Bluetooth wireless Shop the full SoundTraxx range, compare every DCC decoder we stock, or see the other GE sound profile decoders. A speaker is not included — browse DCC speakers rated 3 watt or better, and find install parts in DCC wiring. Add a SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper to keep sound alive over dirty track and turnouts. FAQ Do I need a DCC system to use this? No. That is the point of Blunami. It runs on a plain DC power pack with no command station at all — you control it from the free Blunami app over Bluetooth. It is also a fully NMRA-compliant DCC decoder if you already run DCC. Does the app work on Android?Yes. The free Blunami app is published for both iOS and Android. (Some older listings and dealer pages still say iOS only — that is out of date.) Is a speaker included? No. Pair it with an 8-ohm speaker rated 3 watt or better that fits your shell. Which prime movers do I get?All 8 listed above, selectable in the app or via CV 123. You are not locked to one engine sound — pick whichever matches your prototype. Will it fit my locomotive? This one measures 69 x 30.5 x 14mm and connects by screw terminal blocks (no soldering). Check the space in your shell against that footprint before ordering — other Blunami versions use different connectors and sizes.

EMD’s E-8 (and successor, E-9) were the quintessential North American passenger locomotive of the 1950s through the 1970s. 450 E8A and 46 E8B units were produced, with an additional 100 E9A and 44 E9B locos following. The first E8s were delivered in 1949, with the last E9 being produced in 1964. These units pulled passenger trains from coast to coast, and later became the backbone of Amtrak’s fleet in its early days. Many more were later used in commuter service before being retired. Today several units live on in museums and tourist railroads throughout North America. What makes Rapido’s E8 and E9 models different than every E8 or E9 that has come before? Simple – we’re doing it right. Every E8 model out there is a “best guess” as to the nose, roof and windshield contours of the real thing. At Rapido’s we don’t believe in making guesses. That’s why we commissioned a 3D laser scan of Union Pacific E8 #942 at the Southern California Railway Museum. A 3D scan ensures that we get those impossible-to-guess contours bang-on accurate. Our engineers trace the scan and shrink it down to HO scale. Rapido’s E8 model features: 3D laser-scanned body shell Accurate nose and roof contours Seven different noses Three different back ends Two different sides – with and without lifting lug covers Three different steam generator options 36” fan, 48” fan or non-dynamic brake options Single- or dual-headlight configurations Freight or passenger pilots Three styles of side grills Original porthole sides or rebuilt with blanked sides (including unique variations) Skirted or non-skirted fuel tanks Original square and sloped or Hyatt roller bearing journal boxes Heavy die-cast chassis Smooth running drive system with all wheels powered Complete lighting effects – headlights, class lights, backup lights, ground lights, cab lights and more Numerous road-specific detail parts in both plastic and etched metal Below is a list of just SOME of the road-specific detail parts that we are producing: Four different sand filler hatch styles PRR Train Phone antenna Southern rooftop air tanks Southern large-capacity water tanks UP snow shields Cab-side walkways (2 styles) Pilot MU hoses ATS shoes PRR Nose lifting lugs Three different radio antenna Six different headlight/warning light inserts Various bug screens, mirrors, and wind deflectors Numerous grab iron configurations Several horn styles (in brass) And probably more that we’ve forgotten! Each E8A & E8B locomotive will have road specific details applied. Details are listed with each product. You can see a visual representation of the details by clicking the button below.
