Sound and non-sound DCC decoders from SoundTraxx, ESU, Digitrax and Train Control Systems. To pick the right one, match three things to your locomotive: the connection (hardwire, 8-pin, 21-pin or Next18 plug), the motor current it needs, and for sound decoders the prime mover or steam profile. Each product page lists its connection, current rating and sound set. Not sure what fits? Ask us before you order.

Digitrax Digitrax SDXN147A0 | Series 7 Sound and DCC Control Decoder | N Scale
The Digitrax SDXN147A0 puts motor control, lighting and SoundFX into one N scale board decoder, and it ships with the oval speaker already matched to it. It is a drop-in for many Atlas N locomotives, which means no harness to route and no hunting for a speaker that fits - the hardest part of an N scale sound install is already solved. Building a DCC fleet? Browse our DCC Decoders, DCC Speakers, and DCC Accessories. Features Sound, motor and lighting in one N scale board - a drop-in fit for many Atlas N locomotives. 8 ohm 9 x 18 x 4mm oval speaker included, sized for N scale shells. No guesswork about what will fit. 1.0 amp continuous, 2.0 amps peak - plenty for an N scale motor. 4 FX3 function outputs at 200mA for headlights and lighting effects alongside the sound functions. SoundFX prime mover, horn and bell, with CV-adjustable volume and sound scheme. More Information Brand Digitrax Item Number SDXN147A0 Product Type DCC Sound and Motor Decoder Scale N Motor Current 1.0 A continuous / 2.0 A peak Function Outputs 4 x FX3, 200 mA Sound Yes - SoundFX Speaker Included Yes - 8 Ohm, 9 x 18 x 4 mm oval Connection Drop-in board for many Atlas N locomotives Series Digitrax Series 7 Condition New FAQ Will it fit my N scale locomotive? It is designed as a drop-in for many Atlas N models. Board decoders are shape-specific, so pull the shell and compare the factory board footprint and light positions before ordering. If it does not match, a wired N decoder is the fallback. Do I need to buy a speaker separately? No. The matched 8 ohm oval speaker is in the box. You will still get noticeably better sound if you fit it against a baffle or a sealed pocket in the shell rather than leaving it loose. Can I change the sound scheme?Yes. SoundFX schemes and volumes are set through CVs, so you can adjust horn, bell and prime mover to suit the prototype you are modelling. Do I need a Digitrax command station? Not for running - it works on any NMRA DCC system. Loading new sound files does require a Digitrax programmer.

ESU LLC ESU 58751 | LokSound 5 Micro DCC Direct Sound and Control Decoder - Board Replacement Decoder for Atlas Legacy Diesel and Others | N Scale
By default, this decoder does not come with a pre-programmed Sound Profile. Nevertheless, we provide complimentary Sound File programming for all ESU decoders. Please be aware that opting for Sound File Programming in your order might result in a shipment delay of 1 to 2 business days. Visit this link to preview ESU Sounds The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct has been specially developed for installation in N gauge locomotives of the Atlas and Intermountain brands: it can be inserted directly instead of the analog board installed there as standard. However, the decoder can also be used for similar models from other manufacturers at your own discretion. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Atlas Legacy is also a “direct style decoder developed for early (before 2016) Atlas, Intermountain (and others). The decoder was made for locos produced before sound was added during production. This replaces the popular ESU 73100 Select Direct Micro. Both the LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy with their dimensions of 66.0mm x 8.2mm are pure DCC decoders and come without a loudspeaker. Modes The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy are both “pure-bred” DCC decoders. 14 to 128 driving steps are as self-evident as 2- and 4-digit addresses. Up to 32 functions can be triggered. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders log in fully automatically to a suitable digital center. It masters all DCC programming modes and thanks to RailCom® the CV values can be read out on the main track with suitable control panels. Auxiliary registers exist for control panels that can only program the CVs from 1-255. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy Decoders detect the Märklin® brake distances as well as ZIMO® HLU / ZACK commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake blocks or dc voltage is also possible. In addition, it also stops with a Selectrix® brake diode. An AUTOMATIC ABC commuter train allows automatic commuting between two stations. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy decoders can be used on analog DC layouts. The decoders switch “on-the-fly” fully automatically between operating modes. Most of the time, nothing needs to be adjusted. Sound The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy decoders can play up to 12 channels simultaneously. Each channel can be resolved with up to 16 bits / 31250 kHz and offers hi-fi quality on your system. There is virtually no difference to the original audible anymore. A Class-D audio output stage with up to 3W output power controls the speakers, which have between 4 ohms and 32 ohms impedance. A 128 Mbit sound memory provides enough capacity. All individual noises can be adjusted individually in the volume. The super-flexible sound engine without a rigid schedule allows the exemplary simulation of all conceivable rail tracks. Functions The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy decoders have up to 10 directly soldered LEDs. Two of them are intended for front and rear head lighting, two more are connected to the aux3 and aux4 outputs to switch e.g. number boards. A further 6 LEDs on the bottom are intended for ditch lights, but can also be used for other lighting purposes on request. All important lighting functions are available. The brightness of each output can be set separately. Motor Control The motor control of the LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy decoders have a variable PWM clock frequency from 10kHz to 50kHz, which ensures super-quiet operation, especially for bell anchor motors – the hitherto typical “hum” is a thing of the past. The load control can be adapted to difficult cases with up to 10 CVs. The unique “Autotune” function allows the decoder to be automatically measured against the motor. The LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct/Atlas Legacy decoders deliver up to 0.9A motor power. Protection Of course, the outputs are protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible. Digitrax Digitrax TL1 | Single Function DCC Decoder with Integrated Transponding - 1A Continuous, Hardwire Install | Multi Scale
The Digitrax TL1 is a single-function DCC decoder with integrated transponding — perfect for adding a controllable function output (lights, smoke, or other accessory) to a non-decoder locomotive while also giving you Digitrax's position-tracking feature on the same board. At just 1.0" × 0.4" × 0.16", it fits in cabooses, passenger cars, lightboards, and even N-scale shells where space is tight. Looking for more DCC decoders and electronics? Browse our DCC Decoders and Electronics & Wiring collections. Features One DCC-controllable function output with full transponding (Digitrax position-tracking) built in — no separate transponder board needed. 1A continuous, 2A peak function output — plenty for headlights, marker lights, rear lights, smoke units, or other accessories. Hardwire install with color-coded leads (blue common, white function, red & black track) — works in HO, N, O, S, and G with appropriate wire gauge. Full CV programming including FX3 lighting effects (Mars, Gyralite, Strobe, Random Flicker, Soft On/Off, etc.). SuperSonic silent-running operation — no audible motor whine. Compatible with all DCC systems following NMRA standards. More Information Brand Digitrax Item Number TL1 Type Single function-output DCC decoder with transponding Function Outputs 1 (white) — 1A continuous / 2A peak Motor Output None — function-only decoder Transponding Integrated (no add-on board needed) Connection Hardwire — color-coded leads Size 1.0 × 0.4 × 0.16 in Scale Compatibility HO, N, O, S, G (any DCC scale) Condition New — sealed UPC 652667100052 FAQ What is "transponding"?Transponding is Digitrax's position-tracking technology — the TL1 reports its location back to your command station through compatible Digitrax detection sections, so you can see exactly where a transponding-equipped car or locomotive is on your layout. It's not the same as RailCom but serves a similar role. Does this drive a motor? No — the TL1 is a function-only decoder. It controls ONE output (typically a light or accessory). For motor control you need a full mobile decoder like the Digitrax DH126MT, DZ126, or any other mobile decoder. What can I wire to the function output?LEDs (with appropriate resistor), incandescent bulbs, smoke units, sound modules, ditch lights, mars lights, or any DC-powered accessory drawing under 1A continuous. FX3 effects let you simulate prototypical lighting patterns. Will it work with any DCC system?Yes — the TL1 follows NMRA DCC standards and runs on any DCC command station. Transponding readback, however, requires a Digitrax LocoNet system with appropriate detection sections (BDL168, BDL16, etc.).

Looking for more DCC decoders and electronics? Browse our DCC Decoders and Electronics & Wiring collections. Features Four independent DCC-controllable function outputs (white, yellow, green, purple) — control each one separately via your throttle. Integrated transponding — Digitrax position-tracking built in, no separate transponder board needed. 1A continuous, 2A peak combined function output — plenty for headlights, ditch lights, rear lights, smoke, or accessory clusters. Hardwire install with color-coded leads — works in HO, N, O, S, and G scale. Full CV programming including FX3 lighting effects (Mars, Gyralite, Strobe, Random Flicker, Soft On/Off, Rule 17, etc.) on every output. SuperSonic silent-running operation, NMRA DCC compatible. More Information Brand Digitrax Item Number TF4 Type Quad function-output DCC decoder with transponding Function Outputs 4 (white, yellow, green, purple) — 1A continuous combined Motor Output None — function-only decoder Transponding Integrated (no add-on board needed) Connection Hardwire — color-coded leads Scale Compatibility HO, N, O, S, G (any DCC scale) Condition New — sealed UPC 652667100083 FAQ What's the difference between the TF4 and the TL1?The TL1 has one function output; the TF4 has four. If you need to control multiple separate lighting circuits (headlight + ditch lights + class lamps + rear marker) the TF4 is the right call. Both have integrated transponding. Does this drive a motor? No — the TF4 is function-only. For motor + lights in one board, use a full mobile decoder like the Digitrax DH126 or DZ126. What can I wire to the function outputs?LEDs (with resistors), incandescent bulbs, smoke units, ditch lights, mars lights, signal lamps, sound modules — anything DC-driven under 1A combined draw. FX3 effects make each output simulate prototypical lighting patterns independently. Will it work with any DCC system?Yes — standard NMRA DCC. Transponding readback requires a Digitrax LocoNet command station with detection sections (BDL168, BDL16, etc.).

A speaker is not included — browse DCC speakers rated 1 watt or better, and find install parts in DCC wiring. Add a SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper to keep sound alive over dirty track and turnouts. FAQ Do I need a DCC system to use this? No. That is the point of Blunami. It runs on a plain DC power pack with no command station at all — you control it from the free Blunami app over Bluetooth. It is also a fully NMRA-compliant DCC decoder if you already run DCC. Does the app work on Android?Yes. The free Blunami app is published for both iOS and Android. (Some older listings and dealer pages still say iOS only — that is out of date.) Is a speaker included? No. Pair it with an 8-ohm speaker rated 1 watt or better that fits your shell. Which prime movers do I get?All 9 listed above, selectable in the app or via CV 123. You are not locked to one engine sound — pick whichever matches your prototype. Will it fit my locomotive? This one measures 31 x 10.5 x 5mm and connects by hardwire (single wires). Check the space in your shell against that footprint before ordering — other Blunami versions use different connectors and sizes.

Digitrax Digitrax DNDP | DC Dummy Plugs (5 Pack) | N Scale
A dummy plug is what keeps a converted N scale locomotive running on DC while you wait to fit a decoder. Plug a DNDP into the harness in place of the decoder and the motor circuit is completed for plain DC operation; pull it out, drop the decoder in, and the same locomotive is DCC. This is a five-pack, which is the sensible way to buy them - they are small, easy to lose, and you always need one at the wrong moment. Building a DCC fleet? Browse our DCC Decoders, DCC Wiring, and DCC Accessories. Features Run the same locomotive as DC or DCC - the dummy plug completes the circuit for DC, the decoder replaces it for DCC. Five per pack. These are tiny parts that disappear into the carpet; a spare or four is worth having. For use with the Digitrax DNWH and DNWHPS N scale harnesses. No soldering and no tools - it is a plug swap. Also useful when selling on or storing a locomotive you want to leave in DC condition. More Information Brand Digitrax Item Number DNDP Product Type DC Dummy Plug Scale N Quantity 5 pack Use With Digitrax DNWH and DNWHPS N scale harnesses Purpose Completes the motor circuit for DC operation Condition New FAQ What does a dummy plug actually do?It bridges the motor and pickup connections so the locomotive runs on plain DC. Without it, or without a decoder in its place, the circuit is open and the loco will not move. Do I need one if I am fitting a decoder? No. The decoder takes the dummy plug's place in the harness. Keep the plug somewhere safe though - you will want it if you ever pull the decoder out for another project or sell the loco as DC. Will these work in HO?These are the N scale version, for the DNWH and DNWHPS harnesses. HO installs use the corresponding HO parts. Why five?Because they are small, unlabelled and easy to lose, and because most people converting a fleet are doing several locomotives at once.
