The Digitrax SP531832B is the largest Digitrax box speaker in its 32 ohm version - a 53 x 18 x 14mm driver already mounted in a sealed enclosure, for sound decoders whose amplifier expects a 32 ohm load. Where you have room for it, in an HO long hood, a large tender, or an O or G scale frame, the cone area and box volume give you low end that compact speakers simply cannot produce.

How do I know whether I need 32 ohm or 8 ohm?
Your decoder manual states the rated speaker impedance. Use this 32 ohm version only where the decoder calls for 32 ohms. If it calls for 8 ohms, order the Digitrax SP53188B - the identical speaker and box in 8 ohm.
What happens if I fit the wrong impedance?
Too high and the sound is quiet and thin. Too low and the decoder amplifier draws more current than it is rated for, which can overheat or damage it. Always match the decoder spec.
Will it fit in an HO locomotive?
In a diesel long hood or a good-sized steam tender, usually yes - allow about 2-1/8 in. length, 3/4 in. width and 9/16 in. depth. In a switcher or a boiler it will not. Measure before ordering.
Do I still need to build a baffle?
No. The enclosure is included and sealed. Just mount it where the opening is not blocked by the frame or a weight.
