The Lionel 6-81252 FasTrack O31 Manual Switch — Left Hand is a single left-hand turnout for Lionel's FasTrack O Gauge system. It uses a 33¾° turnout angle with the diverging route built on an O31 (31" diameter) curve, and includes a quarter-curve section so it completes a full O31 45° curve when paired with the rest of an O31 layout. Non-derailing operation lets your trains keep rolling no matter which way the switch is thrown.

Will this switch work with older Lionel O36 FasTrack?
The 6-81252 is an O31 switch (31" diameter diverging route), while the older 6-12017 / 6-12018 switches use O36 geometry. Both use the FasTrack roadbed system and connect physically, but the geometry differs — match your switch to the curve radius you're already running.
Is this switch manually operated or does it need a controller?
It's manually thrown by hand at the trackside — no controller or wiring needed. The lantern can still be illuminated from track voltage or an auxiliary power feed if you want the lantern lit.
What does "non-derailing" mean?
If a train approaches the switch from the diverging route while the switch is thrown to the straight route (or vice versa), the switch automatically aligns itself to match the train's path so it doesn't derail.
Is the switch lantern always lit?
Only when you connect track power or an auxiliary feed to the switch. Without power, the lantern is unlit but the switch still functions normally.
