SoundTraxx SoundTraxx 829100 | Tsunami SoundCar Digital Sound Decoder

    1 review

    1 In Stock In Store

The SoundTraxx 829100 is the Tsunami SoundCar — a 16-bit digital sound decoder built for rolling stock rather than locomotives. It has no motor drive at all; it exists to give your cabooses, passenger cars, reefers and stock cars their own sound and lighting. Because the sound comes from the train instead of the engine, you get running sound that moves down the consist: clickety-clack over the rail joints, flange squeal on curves, brake cylinders and coupler clank. SoundTraxx suggests roughly one SoundCar per third or fourth car rather than one in every car. Features 11 air horns and whistles: Nathan K5LA, K5LA Amtrak, K3L, K3LA and P3; Wabco AA2 and E2; Leslie S2B; Hancock air whistle; and two caboose whistles for shoving-platform work 5 bells: modern cast, bronze cast, cast, electronic and gong Clickety-clack configurable for 2-, 4- and 6-axle cars, plus flat spots, flange squeal and brake squeal Full brake system: independent and train brakes, brake cylinders, retainer bleed-off, train line charge, hand brake tie-down and untie, and an emergency “big hole” valve on E-stop Couplers: clank, pin drop and release with glad-hand separation Generators that behave correctly per car type — intermittent for a reefer, constant for a passenger car BeastBanter livestock: cattle or sheep, with a “spook the livestock” function for stock cars 4 lighting outputs with Hyperlight effects including FRED, firebox and stove flicker, and interior/exterior lighting CurrentKeeper ready — quick-plug socket for the SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper More Information Item Number: SoundTraxx 829100 Model: Tsunami SoundCar Built For: Rolling stock — cabooses, passenger cars, cab cars, reefers, stock cars Scale: N through G scale Decoder Size: 47 x 14 x 8.5mm Connection: Universal-style board with bare, NMRA colour-coded wires Motor Drive: None — this decoder does not drive a motor Current Draw: 15 – 25mA at 14V Function Outputs: 4 (100mA each) Audio Amplifier: 8-Ohm speaker required (not included) Sound Resolution: 16-bit Functions: F0 – F12 Shop the full SoundTraxx range, compare every DCC decoder we stock, browse DCC speakers, or find install parts in DCC wiring. Add a SoundTraxx 810140 CurrentKeeper to keep sound alive over dirty track. FAQ Does this go in a locomotive? No. The SoundCar has no motor drive — it is made for the cars behind the engine. Put a Tsunami2, Blunami or Econami in the locomotive and a SoundCar in the train. Do I need one in every car?No. SoundTraxx recommends about one per third or fourth car. The effect is a train that sounds alive along its length, not a row of identical speakers. Which cars is it for?All rolling stock. Cabooses, passenger and cab cars, reefers and stock cars. The generator behaves differently by car type and the clickety-clack is set by axle count, so it can be tuned per car. Is it a Tsunami2?No. It is the Tsunami SoundCar — 16-bit sound, but its own product built for rolling stock, not a Tsunami2 variant. Is a speaker included? No. Use any 8-ohm speaker that fits the car.

  • SoundTraxx 810164 CurrentKeeperIII for DCC sound model train installations

SoundTraxx SoundTraxx 810164 | CurrentKeeperIII | Multi Scale

    1 In Stock In Store

The SoundTraxx CurrentKeeperIII is the smallest keep-alive module SoundTraxx has ever built — a compact 470µF power-backup that keeps your DCC locomotive running smoothly through brief power interruptions caused by dirty track, insulated frogs, or a momentary loss of electrical pickup. At just 10.1 x 6.8 x 4.2mm, it slips into the tightest installations where a full-size CurrentKeeper simply will not fit. Wired to a compatible sound or motor decoder, the CurrentKeeperIII stores enough energy to bridge short power dropouts (typically about 0.5 to 0.75 seconds), smoothing out flickering lights, stuttering motors, and interrupted sound during normal operation. It works in any scale, so it is at home in HO, N, O and beyond wherever space is at a premium. Looking for more DCC components? Browse our DCC Accessories, DCC Decoders, and the full SoundTraxx lineup. Features SoundTraxx's smallest CurrentKeeper yet — measures just 10.1 x 6.8 x 4.2mm for tight installs. 470µF capacity provides dependable short-term backup power during brief electrical interruptions. Typical hold time of approximately 0.5 to 0.75 seconds, depending on the locomotive, decoder, motor load and lighting. Bridges power loss from dirty track, insulated frogs and momentary pickup dropouts for smoother, more reliable running. Compatible with NMRA DCC Standards & Recommended Practices. Works in any scale — HO, N, O, S, G and Z. More Information Brand SoundTraxx Item Number 810164 Product Type CurrentKeeper / Keep-Alive Module Capacitance 470µF Dimensions 10.1 x 6.8 x 4.2mm Input Rating 16V or less; 100mA Scale All Scales (Multi Scale) Standards NMRA DCC Compatible Condition New FAQ What does a CurrentKeeper actually do?It is a keep-alive device. It stores electrical energy and feeds it back to your decoder when the wheels momentarily lose contact with the rails, so your locomotive keeps moving and its lights and sound stay on instead of cutting out. How is the CurrentKeeperIII different from the CurrentKeeper and CurrentKeeperII?The CurrentKeeperIII is SoundTraxx's most compact version at just 10.1 x 6.8 x 4.2mm. With a 470µF capacity it delivers a shorter hold time (about 0.5 to 0.75 seconds) than the larger units, making it ideal for small locomotives and tight installs where the full-size CurrentKeepers will not fit. Will it work with my decoder? The CurrentKeeperIII follows NMRA DCC Standards & Recommended Practices and works with decoders that provide a keep-alive / energy-storage connection. Check your decoder's documentation for the correct hookup points. What scales does it work in?Any scale. Because it is an electronic module, the CurrentKeeperIII can be installed in HO, N, O, S, G or Z locomotives wherever there is room for it.
