The Digitrax DH187A0 is a drop-in light board replacement for HO locomotives - you unscrew the factory DC light board and this Series 7 decoder takes its place, keeping the original lighting positions. It is the standard fit for many Kato, Athearn Genesis and Stewart models, and it brings eight FX7 function outputs at 300mA, far more lighting capability than a two-function decoder.

FAQ
How do I know it will fit my locomotive?Drop-in boards are shape-specific. Pull the shell and compare the factory board footprint, mounting clips and light positions against the DH187A0. It is the usual fit for many Kato, Athearn Genesis and Stewart HO diesels, but check yours before ordering - if it does not match, a wired decoder such as the DH127D is the fallback.
Why choose a drop-in board over a plug-in decoder? No harness and no wire to hide, and the lighting stays where the manufacturer put it. On models where the light board also carries the motor contacts, a drop-in is usually the cleanest install you can do.
What can I do with eight function outputs?Headlight and rear headlight, ditch lights that alternate with the horn, number boards, cab light, class lights - each output can be assigned its own effect and dimming via CV settings.
Does it have sound? No. This is a motor and function decoder. For sound in HO, look at a Digitrax SDXH series decoder or a SoundTraxx unit, plus a speaker.
